The powerful earthquake in Nepal that killed thousands of lives has put a massive strain on Nepal and its people. TSIS, through the initiative of the Junior Student Council, organised a fund-raising campaign called ‘Together weCARE for NEPAL’ to raise money for the earthquake victims. Overall, the council was able to raise 60,000 baht.
On 09 June 2015, TSIS group comprising of 4 teachers and staff, a parent representative and 4 student leaders representing the council visited the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok to give the collected money. The group was cordially received by no less than the Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Khaga Nath Adhikari.
Previously, the student council similarly organised a donation drive called “Together We CARE” on 27-30 January to raise money and collect toys and books for the benefit of the children at SOS Children’s Villages in New Bangpoo, Samutprakan. Overall, the Council was able to raise 24,240 baht and a whole heap of colourful toys and educational books. The student leaders visited the children at SOS Children’s Villages in Samutprakan on 14 February to give the collected donations. They also rendered a song to the children in the village. These humble undertakings meaningfully engaged the student leaders, as well as all the pupils to make active contributions to the community – a great learning experience beyond the confines of their classrooms. It further provided them a good platform to cultivate the value of responsibility, care and harmony.
